Link Africa (Pty) Ltd has a vacancy for a dynamic Senior Network Engineer to join the Engineering Team within the Midrand or Durban Office.

Qualifications

  • Diploma / Degree in relevant IT/Computing qualifications
  • CCNP(R&S), CCIE/IP would be an advantage

Experience and Knowledge

  • Minimum ± 10 years’ experience.
  • Experience managing of Telecommunications network a growing 24/7/365 environment.
  • Experience with Quality of service, HQOS, DSCP/COS marking.
  • Experienced with NMS tools (Zabbix, LibreNMS, Cacti …etc)
  • Sound grasps of Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, object-oriented design, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
  • Proficient in one or modern programming languages i.e., Python, Unix structure (Linux), Virtual basic or PHP
  • IOS and IOS-XE based routing platform (QinQ).
  • Ciena switch knowledge. (VLANs, ERPS, RSTP etc…)
  • Arista switch knowledge would be an advantage. (VPWS, Flex-encapsulation)
  • (eBGP, iBGP, OSPF and ISIS …etc)
  • IP/MPLS knowledge traffic engineering using supported protocols is essential
  • Knowledge on cloud-based service, AWS or Azure would be an advantage
  • Knowledge on TACACS and Radius build and management.
  • VOIP knowledge – implementation design and support would be an advantage.

  • Keeping track of Telecommunications market trends and identify innovative technology and potential future tech opportunities.
  • Maintain relationships with current and new vendors.
  • Develop a testing framework to for novel solutions and applications to existing production networks.
  • Develop MVP’s (Minimum Viable Products) for testing in labs or selective end-users.
  • Document R&D solutions and designs with required features for production release.
  • Support development team with solutions builds.
  • Support Operational staff with handover of completed solutions products.
  • Ability to automate where possible, helping in reducing monotonous daily tasks
  • Team player and mentoring others is essential.
  • Involved in network design and implementation.
