We are excited to announce that we have officially acquired Internet Solutions’ fibre optic network, with over 400 points of presence across South Africa.
Our fibre network’s reach has extended by 5,500 to 8,500 kilometres; making us one of South Africa’s biggest fibre network providers and allowing us to expand fibre into new terrain; increasing our reach exponentially.
“Our reach now rivals the likes of Openserve, Dark Fibre Africa & Liquid Telecoms, plus our ability to extend fibre reach is unparalleled”, states Director of Link Africa, Craig Carthy.
Our BBBEE level 1 contributor status provides us with an unprecedented platform to partner with our private and public sector clients in order to drive growth and transformation within the South African digital economy.
“This acquisition transforms Link Africa as a key player in the South African fibre market. It also provides a platform for our clients to expand GSM coverage in metropolitan and major towns across all provinces, improves our fibre coverage in most major commercial and retail centres across the country and will help provide substantially more affordable fibre services”, says CEO, Terence Moodley.
This new acquisition allows us to not only make an impact on artificially high prices, but we expect to see wholesale prices reduced.
“We will make fibre prices more affordable,” states Carthy.
This deal also positions Link Africa in a strategically excellent position as 5G and the government-supported Wholesale Open Access Network (WOAN) looms ever larger on the horizon.
Our fibre network clients will continue to experience the same high levels of service to which they are accustomed, with the added benefit that we will have a far wider reach to support our clients’ requirements.
We have plans to make further investment into the expansion of our fibre network in order to expand our portfolio of wholesale services.
The fibre industry has the potential to accelerate digital inclusion and economic growth, dynamism and ingenuity that Africa needs. “A key part of the solution is staring us right in the face – unleashing the economic power of the digital world with Link Africa providing massive bandwidths at affordable rates”, concludes Moodley.
